Financial software: Quicken 2010
I will tell you up front that I have used Quicken’s Mac products since 1996 – but I really do not like Quicken 2007. It is a way more complicated piece of software now than what I need or want.
That being said, Quicken has a lot of fans. Obviously, it is the right software for a lot of people.
Quicken 2010 for Windows is now available. The price ranges run from $59.99 for “deluxe” to $149.99 for “rental property manager.” If you have been a Microsoft Money software user, you are being “invited” to convert your files to Quicken 2010. The Quicken Essentials for Mac is expected for release in February.
Free Money Finance recently wrote Four Things I Like About Quicken and the comment section is pretty good. Fiscal Geek also has a review on Quicken 2010 with lots of comments posted there too.
Quicken’s well-known features include tracking expenses, net worth and investments. I found it easy in the older versions to set up household spending reports by month, quarter and by year. When I did my family’s grocery spending analysis for my public speaking engagements, I pulled that data report from Quicken.
A related product is Quicken Home Inventory Manager. I used one of the early versions of that software and I really liked that program.
(I’m not done yet. I’m bookmarking other software and services. Check back during the next few days …)
