What an inspiring story. I need to figure out where we can save and become debt-free ourselves.
I have been living frugally for years, but it has been difficult to see it all the sacrifice go nowhere as my other half is a spender. There is no amount of saving that can cancel that out. Frustrating! We need to agree on goals for sure. Then, back it up with action. He has noticed how much things are really costing though, and as the country slides financially he is learning faster and faster. I just hope it won’t be too late.
There have been a lot of fun moments amidst the thrift, and its like a little celebration; when I came to the checkstand and need supervisor overrides because I saved so much. Who thought you could save more than half on basics like unprocessed foods? And my freezer has saved me tons of time and work and cleanup while cooking from scratch. Calendar ahead your important gardening activities. Learn how to sew or mend. Do not use disposeables wherever possible. Enjoy the simple things. Find a purpose for your time, energy and money. It will multiply when you are careful.
